Donate Computers
kenya : Donate Computers
Help Kenya Project solicits, refurbishes and ships computers and other computer-related technology products to impoverished, Kenyan school communities. Only PC’s of the windows 98 or later are accepted because earlier PC’s are rarely able to support the educational software we install onto the donated computers. We also ask that you send only computers that are operational.
At present, we are soliciting:
- Windows 98, 2000 era or better
- Mac Desktops
- Laptops- both PC and Mac
- Monitors- both CRT and Flat Screen
- Printers, Scanners, Projectors
- Speakers, Microphones and Cameras
- Mice and Keyboards
- Networking equipment
- Power and other cables
- Hard Disks and Media Drives
- Educational Software
It is preferable that all donated computers still have the hard drive installed within them. There is never any need for concern for the security of the information currently loaded on a donated computer since the first step in the refurbishment process of the computer is a complete expunging of the hard drive information itself which is done under extensive and secure adult supervision.
Printers and scanners are a very important part of the workstations we send to Kenyan schools. If you do donate a printer or scanner, please include the drivers and all cables for the device. In the case of printers, please include any extra printer cartridges.
The educational software we collect includes “Learn to Type” programs, Basic Math, Reading and Critical Thinking programs, and Encyclopedia programs.
