VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

During his 2008 Presidential campaign, Barak Obama (coincidentally born to a native Kenyan father) called upon all Americans to engage in more Volunteering activities.  Jude Ndambuki, HKP’s founder, formed HKP in such a way that anyone who wishes to, is able to achieve varying degrees of Social Responsibility by taking advantage of the many volunteering opportunities which are offered by HKP.  All the work we do, from picking up computers to boxing up equipment for the twice-yearly shipments to Kenya, is done by volunteers, either currently volunteering with Help Kenya Project, or would like to volunteer on an “As-Needed” basis. We have no paid executives or employees.

Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

• Teaching in Kenyan Schools
• Pick up and Transfer of Donations from various locations to Children’s Village in Dobbs Ferry
• Refurbishment and Testing of Computers
• Packing of donated items for the twice-year shipments to Kenya
• Arranging of Fundraising and Friendraising Events
• Writers to produce monthly newsletters and news items for our website
• Low-Cost or Free Advertising Space in local newspapers, magazines or venues
• Solicitation for equipment via Emails, Bulletin Boards, Letters, and by Word-of Mouth
• Creation of Help Kenya Project Clubs in High Schools, Universities, Corporations, Small Businesses or Communities for the purpose of organizing all of the above

          Corporate or Community Group volunteers are always welcome.

SPACE

We are always in need of additional space in which to collect, refurbish and store equipment.  Please contact us by completing the form on the Donate button with details of how you can help.  

The best type of collection and workshop space would be dry, easily accessible, well-lit and at least 1,200 square feet or more in size with restroom facilities and located in lower Westchester County.  

The best type of storage space would be dry, easily accessible, well-lit, secure and at least 800 square feet or more in size, also located in lower Westchester County.
